PIAG Print Buyers Guide
2011 Buyers Guide

Drastic improvements to the strength of the book this year. Spine fits perfectly, and I went heavier on the cover stock. Thanks to American Color Graphics, C & C Trade Bindery, American Printing Finishers, Athens Paper, and Southern Index.

2010 Buyers Guide

Not much exciting about a Buyers Guide...but this past year was a big step in the right direction in the way of design. In past years, the piece was a flimsy 8.5" x11" coil bound nightmare. It's history has some very interesting versions including one cover from the early 90's with a stock photo of a dog's face on it. And nothing else. Now that's just RUFF, people!!

Design Notes:
I wanted to spend PIAG's dollars with a little more intelligence while giving users a more attractive and more user friendly piece. I brought the final size down to 7" x 9" and chose a fresh color palette to give it an updated feel. The new size makes it something users can keep on their desk, stuff in their work bag, or actually FIT on a shelf with the rest of the paper swatch books. I also added the benefit of a spine with the wraparound cover. The Guide now also includes an updated Print Reference section for the basics of print design, along with a growing list of resources/books I have personally found helpful.

The book was printed 4/4 on Utopia U1XG Silk 100C and Dull 80T by American Color Graphics in Atlanta, GA. Other production creds go to: American Printing Finishers, Superior Graphic Finishing, and Family Binding.

Buyers Guide Advertising Brochure
In some ways I like this more than the actual book. It's printed on Accent Opaque 80C - and the design just looks better on uncoated paper. I couldn't do this with the book because so much concern was expressed about printers' ads not looking right with the uncoated.

The old version used to have all information flowing vertically - and was difficult to look at since it was all squeezed in. I took in to consideration how ad buyers would be referring to it for information and decided to run it horizontally instead. It turned out to be a nice change.
